    Short Hills Dining: Enzzo’s Trattoria

Enzzo's Trattoria Short Hills NJIt’s not often that restaurants in Short Hills, New Jersey get reviewed by The New York Times.
    And receive a GOOD Rating.
But our very own Enzzo’s Trattoria did just that!

We have been going to Enzzo’s since it first opened fifteen years ago. I will admit tho’…the fact the owner’s name is Perri Urso is cool…can’t say I meet many other Perri’s spelled the same way.

The food is delicious and the restaurant is family friendly…always a plus.

    Check out the review.

    Sloppy Joe’s…The Jersey Way

New Jersey Sloppy JoeSince 1939 Town Hall Deli of
    South Orange, New Jersey
    has been making their
    signature Sloppy Joes.

Beware, this is not your typical Sloppy Joe (a mess of ground beef in spicy tomato sauce on a bun.)  This succulent sandwich is piled high with all the fixins: including homemade slaw, thin sliced Rye, Swiss Cheese, Roast Beef, Turkey (roasted on site), and of course the secret-sauce Russian Dressing.

Customers swear by this North Jersey staple.

In order to keep up with demand, owner Toni Wonski offers to ship his culinary masterpieces anywhere in the continental US.  Dripping with flavor, this rare concoction is nothing short of Sloppy.

Immerse yourself in a truly Jersey experience and take a trip off the beaten path to Town Hall Deli, your mouth will thank you for it!

Lunch at Samurai Sushi in Millburn, NJ

Samurai SushiI’m not a big out-to-lunch kind of gal, however, I will always go out for Sushi.

The best deal in town is Samurai Sushi: in downtown Millburn, Maplewood Village and in Livingston, New Jersey. With three locations, you can always satisfy your craving as you drive around the area.

For only $8.95, their lunch special is fantastic: Miso Soup, Green Salad with a terrific sesame dressing and a choice of two roll…I am partial to salmon & avocado and yellowtail with scallion…both inside-out with brown rice.

My favorite, tho’ is the Samurai Salad: with tuna, salmon, whitefish, green seaweed, fish roe, white radish, cucumber, crabmeat with the chef’s Spicy sauce ($10.95)

My kids love to get the Beef Teriyaki Bento Box that comes with a California Roll, Shrimp Shumai, Green Salad, Miso Soup and (Brown) Rice ($9.95).

Their menu is extensive and you can’t go wrong with any choice. Be sure to checkout their “special rolls” on the board behind the sushi chefs…they are always creative with a unique Samurai Sushi Twist.

My Birthday Week at The Best New Jersey Restaurants

Happy Birthday to MeLiving along the Midtown Direct Train Line has its benefits: Great food within a ten minute drive in any direction!

I like to cook–sort of. We are fortunate to be able to sit down together as a family four/five nights a week.  Sometimes I make dinner. Sometimes my husband does. He is a much better chef…just ask him :)

Last week, however, was special…it was my birthday!!! So I went out a lot with friends and family…a seven day celebration at my favorite restaurants having my favorite dishes.

Sunday dinner was Steak Salad with Frizzled Onions at The Landmark in Livingston.

Monday was lunch at Samurai Sushi in Millburn…Samarai Salad, just the right amount of spicy.

Tuesday lunch was at Basilico in Millburn of Crabmeat and Grapefruit Salad.

Wednesday lunch was the Swordfish Special at Restaurant MC in Millburn. Marc Cooperman, the owner, kept the champagne flowing…thanks Marc!

Wednesday Birthday Dinner in Summit at La Focaccia with Rack of Lamb done to perfection.

I thought dinner at Antonella’s in South Orange ended the food fest with Grilled Bronzini and Ratatouille on Friday evening.

But, Saturday was a Surprise Party…now that’s what I call a Terrific Birthday Week!!!

Stretch’s…Great Italian Restaurant in Livingston, NJ

PastaIf you are looking for Great Italian food…try Stretch’s across from Livingston Center. We eat there at least three times a month.

We can always count on good service, large portions and reasonable prices. The kids have loved it since they were little (they are in high school now.)

Stretch’s got it’s start from Belmont Tavern in Bloomfield, NJ…which has been around forever!!! I recently found a recipe for their famous Chicken Savoy. I never made it. Didn’t need to…we just go to Stretch’s for our favorite dish. Read the rest of this entry »
